Animal Patterns & Silhouettes

Have you ever looked at an animal? Like I mean . . . REALLY looked?

Many of them have the most beautiful patterns. You might ask WHY do they have patterns? Well, nature is the most amazing thing. The patterns or stripes often match the surroundings of the animal like grass or even sand. This provides some protection for the animal from predators.

So in this activity you are going to look, and I mean REALLY look at some animal patterns and choose one that inspires you. We will also make a silhouette of your chosen animal.

Let’s get started. . .

First gather the materials you will need

  • A4 art paper
  • A photograph of the animal pattern
  • A Silhouette of the animal
  • Oil pastels
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Black A4 paper

Here are some patterns and silhouettes to choose from
